I'm a strong believer in the power of positive thinking

bonnie morrison

I've posted photos of her previously, but I think she deserves her own post, all to her lonesome. She nails the polished, uptown girl look without seeming high-maintenance or prissy. And in the homogenous fashion world, her smiling face adds some needed diversity.

I shall wear the bottom of my trousers rolled...

While cropped trousers are already a pretty big trend, I'm expecting that this trend will only continue to grow. I think it could transition well from work to play, from day to night (I'll admit I don't really have any experience in a corporate environment but it seems like these trousers would be acceptable).

my favorite are giovanna battaglia's-I love the color
And while the woman on the bottom right is working the pants, I think they look best paired with an intense heel (but maybe that's just me... I only like shoes if they're flat or sky high- no where in between!) Aside from wearing heels the other trick to making this look works seems ot be finding the right length- I prefer the lenth worn by Battaglia, ? and ? to that of ? and Taylor Tomasi's which seema little bit long (not that they don't still look great)

California Dreamin' on such a winter's day

light colored denim

For spring/summer I'm craving skinny light denim. Now I know that this may seem like a questionable choice. Light denim doesn't exactly have the reputation for being the most fashionable, or flattering wash. But I believe that those lighter washes can be made current with a skinnier cut, taking the denim out of the realm of midwestern soccer mom.

I mean if the vogue paris team is wearing it it can't be half bad, right?

"Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative."

- Oscar Wilde

This quote gives me reassurance- my trouble defining my personal style isn't indecisiveness or even worse, a failure to know myself, but rather an excess of imagination!
I know what I don't like- super alternative hipster wannabees. You can save the fixie bikes and colored skinny jeans for someone else.
But when it comes time to describe what I do like I have a harder time. I like the preppy, uptown girl look (I did work at J Crew after all). Other days I like the very minimialistic, black and grey, alexander wang look, most likely attributable to my love of ashley olsen and my father's preference for me in black (is that weirdly morose?). Other days i'm feeling the beach girl, hippie, old school rachel zoe look.
Hopefully with time my style will become more defined, destinctive and personal

february

we had a lovely warm weekend which i thoroughly enjoyed by spending as much time in the sun as possible. But the thermostat has once again plunged and it's back to grey and gloomy weather. Spring break is not that far away but until then proenza schouler pre-fall 2009 will keep me inspired until the sun comes out for good

M Design

I stumbled across Molly Luetkemeyer's M. Design and I think I might be in love.
Isn't this office just to die for? (ok the photos look much better when you click on them) The combo of the pale, pepto-bismal pink walls with the bright blue chair was what initially caught my attention. And i loved the sketches on the wall and the orderly row of national geographic magazines.
I'm thinking of trying something similar for my room- but flipped. a pale blue on the walls with some bright magenta as a hit.
