Stripes

It's time for me to confess my love of all things striped. I've got quite a few hanging in my closet, and an ungodly number saved on my desktop. I was thinking of having just one gigantic stripes post but i figure why not space them out a little bit and make my love of stripes a regular feature?

To start us off we've got The Sartorialist's assistant Tracy. I love her classic pairing of the stripes with the cropped black pants but what really makes the look is the dotted scarf she throws on top.

Because I'm just about the luckiest girl in the world I was able to attend a couple of the shows at paris fashion week. My first one was Karl Lagerfeld and I couldn't think of a better way to start it.

I saw rihanna's smile at the dresses the closed the show, the dresses with the beautiful metallic details. But what made me smile were the beautifully tailored dresses that experimented so perfectly with volume. I wasn't close enough to see the details like guitars on the sides of the glasses and honestly I'm kind of glad because I feel like they distract from the great clean lines of my favorite pieces. I'm still dreaming of those jackets that swooped back up, the flowly shorts, and that exsquisite white dress. So light, simple, so perfect.

Year after year I find myself returning to this video. When it first came out I watched it maybe 100 times, if not more, and run around my closet trying to make my closet into something like this video. Years later this is still how I want to dress.

Studying abroad, I'm particularly attracted to these simple perfectly-cut basics. The pieces you reach for over and over and work into a million different outfits. Theyre transitional, they're flexible, they can go out, they can stay at home.

Vogue Nippon

these aren't exactly new photos but I'm really loving the look of the vogue nippon crew. I think it's great how the staff of each magazine seems to have a distinct personality. There's the black, spidery French Vogue, and the cheerful, colorful, ecclectic Teen Vogue. Vogue Nippon seems to be sharp, sophisticated, yet not afraid of some color.

Who is Cat Deeley? The host on So You Think You Can Dance (don't judge me, i occasionally watch trashy tv). Wouldn't expect her to be super stylish but I think she's looking pretty cute in these images

Maximilian Sinsteden took a typical dorm room covered the linolium with multiple oriental rugs and painted the walls Ralph Lauren’s Tapestry Green transforming the space into a elegant, classical room.

Jenna Lyons

So I have a little obsession with j. crew- I worked their last summer and I swear I was one of the best sales associates because I believe in the product that much. I love their classic style that still manages to reflect some of the passing trends. I tended to mix up my cardigans and capris with some of my funkier pieces but the same j. crew items could work just as well on my grandmother.

I've read a lot about Micky Drexler their super detail oriented CEO (he used to call the store we worked at and pretend to be a customer while quizzing us on our knowledge of the store). But recently Jenna Lyons, j. crew's style director. Ever since domino (rip) featured her home, she's been a bit of the belle of the ball with several profiles and interviews. But I have to say my favorite so far is fashionista's- it is an intersting look behind the scenes.
